DM Taxi

The brief

A long-established Dunoon operator needed a site that works on a phone, on one bar of signal, in the rain — and turns a Google search into a booked ride in two taps.

The challenge

Taxi customers do not browse. They search, glance, and tap to call. Anything that delays that — carousels, cookie walls, heavy hero video — costs a fare. The firm also had decades of local reputation that a generic template would have flattened.

Design approach

• Mobile-first from the first pixel: tap-to-call and book buttons fixed within thumb reach, with fares and coverage above the fold.
• Ruthless content editing. Every line answers one of three questions: do you cover me, what will it cost, how do I book now.
• Trust built from the firm's own history — years established, local knowledge, account work — rather than stock imagery.
• Dedicated pages for the journeys that actually pay: airport transfers to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick, long distance, school and contract runs.

How we built it

• Statically rendered pages with almost no client-side JavaScript, so first paint happens on a weak mobile connection.
• Modern compressed image formats and lazy loading to keep data usage minimal.
• Accessible by default: large tap targets, real focus states, contrast checked against WCAG guidance for older users.
• A shared design system with its sister brand means one codebase, one deploy pipeline, and half the build cost.

SEO & AI search

• Local SEO engineered in: Dunoon and Cowal service-area pages, LocalBusiness and Service structured data, opening hours, and Google Business Profile alignment.
• Journey-specific landing pages targeting high-intent searches instead of one generic homepage.
• Written so voice assistants and AI search can answer 'is there a taxi firm in the area that does airport runs' with this business.
